Painted Faces

I’ve never seen an ugly face

Whether stoic, sad, or lit by smile

Round or sunken

Sun-kissed or sun-weathered

Smooth as stone

Or creased with life

*

Such beauty in their lines I find

That passing strangers come to be

Painted into memory

In dream admired eternally

Their portraits hung

With each its place
